In irl formula one it would ruin it, but we're in a game, we can do pretty much whatever we feel like to give us a more enjoyable time racing also 3 cars does mean a bigger grid, more battles, and will make scoring points feel like a huge achievement to some of us.

teams of 2 is great so 2 drivers can work together with setups etc !also there will be more cars on show than if we have a team of 3 . ie will be 3 williams 3 ferraris 3 lotus etc etc

Without it increasing the grid size, it seems like a waste of time imo.

Because the irl case for 3 car teams is down too funding, but that's not an issue for a league. So unless the plan is too run a mod which uses 3 car teams, it'd be a waste of effort for the LAT to implement it, and would possibly lessen the worth of the constructors championship with less teams going for it.

maybe we can figure out a team selection process based on driver attendance so that drivers who will show up for all or most of the races will be spread out through the teams

This was a few weeks before we started the last season and pretty much what (and how) we're gonna do for the next/current season - it's gonna be posted on the forum in the next days.

And now, due to the things I read here in the forum and also by some conversations in our WhatsApp group (which I think all drivers should join - both because it's important and also just because it's fun), here are my thoughts about 3 drivers per team and other changes the LAT may implement for season 7...

As the LAT already knows (because I told them at the Admin Area - so, no surprises here), I'm NOT in favour of 3 drivers per team and I DON'T think it's a good idea.

I DON'T think it would improve the Constructors' Championship (I think it's just as good as it has always been, since season 1 and we can't expect to have all 11 or 12 teams fighting point by point in every race throughout all of the season anyway).

I DON'T think it's a 'necessary' or even a positive change to the league.

BUT...

For what I 'heard' (read) from LAT, I believe they just want to TRY it on season 7 and see how it goes, since some of them believe it could be a positive thing...

Well... time will tell...

BUT STILL...

We must TRY it, to KNOW if it's good or not.

IF it's good, we may probably keep it for the future seasons.
And in worst case scenario (in case it proves to be a bad idea), we would certainly go back to only 2 drivers per team in season 8, which will have a 100% new mod anyway, so... no big deal.

So... let's try not to 'freak out' about it and let's give it a chance - and yes, as I said before, I'm NOT 'happy' with it anyway, BUT... I think we should TRY it and see how it goes before we 'assume' it's gonna be bad.

Let's TRY to support the changes propposed by the LAT and TOGETHER find out if they're good or bad to the league, so we can keep improving it to everyone in the future seasons!

OF COURSE ANY feedback and suggestions from the drivers are welcome and important, so feel free to keep sharing your thoughts too - let's just try not to 'complain' without KNOWING if something is really bad - and IF it is, don't worry, because the LAT will fix it eventually!

Like Brigadeiro said, we are just trying this idea, because the constructors' championship is a bit of a non-event at the moment, with little meaning.

In the constructors:
Season 1 gap from 1st to 2nd and from 1st to 3rd: 47pts and 59pts
(seats filled by first come first served)
Season 2 gap: 54pts and 84pts
(2nd seats filled by admin decision) 
Season 3 gap: 90pts and 117pts
(2nd seats filled by admin decision)
Season 4 gap: 2pts and 160pts
(Teams filled by driver choice)
Season 5 gap: 95pts and 112pts
(Teams filled by driver choice)
Season 6 gap: 49pts and 65pts
(Teams filled by driver choice)

Apart from season 4 there has always been a big spread, nearly always to the point that the championship doesn't matter. Sometimes this is down to the teams having one lead dominant driver and the 2nd driver not scoring points or turning up to races.

The idea of having a 3rd driver in each team is that the significance of that 1st driver is reduced. It's so a team can't win just because they have one successful driver. You'll need 2, and possibly a 3rd. So a team with 3 regular and reliable drivers scoring points will be able to fight against one guy winning the WDC and WCC by himself.

So the 'number 1' driver has to pick 2 good team mates.

If it doesn't work then at least we tried something.
