actually we only have 3 retro circuits (Estoril, Paul-Ricard and this one) i think its a perfect amount. and it is the last retro track for the season if you worry Wink

Guys... before we get into an endless discussion...

I have 2 things to say...

- 1st: I also didn't like this version and think there are lots of better ones out there, but whatever...
- 2nd: NO ONE complained about ANY of this when the full calendar was released (BEFORE the season started - and all the tracks put to download, so anyone could've tested them then), so... WHY you're going to complain NOW?!...

I'm sorry to say, but.. I believe it's too late to change anything now (and believe me, because I complained about a few tracks before and tried to get them replaced by others, but it just didn't happen), so... it's pointless to keep going about it.

Are you guys IN or OUT?
That's all we need to know from you in this thread.

We all get 1 whole week to practice, so.. let's cut the pointless arguing and let's get into some good practice at the server - and yes, I mean RIGHT NOW!!!
Smile

I'm not complaining. I was just suprised because I thought the "old Silverstone" I have read about somewhere long time ago you wanted to choose was the same layout from the original rFactor but seems like I was wrong Razz

I will race everywhere, I don't care Smile

Btw I didn't know they were using that shitty layout in the 90's! For me it looks like taken out straight of the 70's at least! Surprised

Actually, if you were curious to watch the vids I post on the opener... you would find out that 1990 was the last year of the 'old layout'. They started using the 'rFactor layout' in 1991 and a few years ago (I guess in 2008 or 2009), they started using the current layout (the one F1 uses today).

i can give a full history of silverstone if anyone cares..

the left/right chicane (luffield) after the bridge was added in 1987 to replace the chicane in the final corner (woodcote). this configuration was used 1987, 88, 89, 90.

in 1991 they made many changes
copse (t1) - moved inside old t1 to create more run off area, also made the corner more open and faster.
maggots and becketts - the fast left/right/left/right section was added inside of the original maggots and becketts corners.
stowe - made a longer corner but with same radius, coming into a short straight inside the old straight. this made the approach to club corner (vale) now a left/right chicane.
bridge complex - bridge was moved back and a new right hander added. this joined to the existing national circuit to make the 'priory' left hander. another left hander then followed 'brooklands'. this was actually added in 1989 to the national circuit. there was a short straight to join the grand prix track just before luffield.
luffield chicane was straightened out so this made two 90 degree right handers, and back onto the exisiting circuit.

this ran in 1991, 92, and 93.

in 1994 after Senna's death, Copse was made tighter, Stowe was made tighter (almost 90 degrees) and a chicane was added to Abbey (left hander after club).
priory was brought forward, and brooklands was moved closer to the luffield right handers (making more run off at priory).

this was run 1994 and 95. some of the kerbs were flattened out around this time as well.

in 1996 stowe was changed to sweeping fast corner that it is now (the turn in is still before the old stowe though, and the 1994/5 stowe tarmac is still visible inside the corner).

in 1997 there were major changes.

copse (t1) was made into the fast sweeping corner it is now, and the whole bridge complex was smoothed out. luffield was made into one long radius hairpin corner instead of 2 corners. all the kerbs were smoothed out and flattened.

nearly all the old parts of track and runway were torn up.

this version existed until 2010 unchanged.

until 2011/12 the original stowe to club section was still laid down.

the original becketts corner is still laid down behind the new grandstand to this day (including kerbing).

You can find all modifications on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silverstone_Circuit
The good tip is to scroll to the bottom and open every single picture as a separated page in your browser. Then just by clicking with your mouse from one to another you can see how the track has been changing over the years Cool

the worst thing is that they teared the whole old layout down and planted trees on it instead of leaving it for other classes
